de die in diem
day by day
i am pulled out to sea
like flotsam on the waves,
and carried by the current,
at the mercy of its sway.
night by night
i hear her call to me.
as the moon pulls the tide
and smiles softly over the sea
i sink into her jet eyes.
as night turns to day
i tumble through her waves,
a wreck in her maelstrom,
until cast out from her embrace—
to wait for the night to come.
